History
After moving to the US from Lebanon, brothers Garen and Khoren Ekmekjian opened Ritz Jewelers at the San Francisco Gift Center in 1986. At the time of Ritz’s inception, neither Garen nor Khoren had celebrated their 20th birthdays. It was this entrepreneurial spirit, as well as Khoren’s innate sense for jewelry design that helped the brothers grow the business to 10 employees and build up a loyal customer base of more than 12,000 people. Ritz’s West Coast following spans as far as Seattle and Portland, and many customers make special trips to purchase jewelry.
